I know people are frustrated, but crown gifting benefits ZOS because people who otherwise wouldn't buy crowns are getting crowns bought on their behalf. Which means more money for ZOS. I can't honestly say I "get it" - turning off an entire system because a small number of your player base is potentially abusing it seems like overkill to me.
